I’ve been accepted into one of the courses. How do I Register & Enroll into the program? 

Once you’ve been accepted into the program, you’ll be notified via email of instructions on how to register and enroll including payment information within 1-2 weeks.

Can I apply into 2 different courses? Is there any application form fee?

Yes, you may apply for up to two courses, provided they take place in different summer sessions (e.g., one course in Session A3 and one in Session B3). There is no fee to apply. Should you be accepted and choose to enroll, a registration fee and all other fees will be required based on your selected enrollment type.

Can I enroll into 2 different courses? Is there any application form fee?

Yes. If accepted into both, you may enroll in one course per session (e.g., one in Session A3 and one in Session B3). There is no fee to apply; however, please note that enrollment is limited to one course per active summer session. Should you be accepted and choose to enroll, a registration fee and all other fees will be required based on your selected enrollment type.

CSSI Housing or Residential inquiries:

At the moment, our program does not have residential option available. However, students who will be 17 years of age or older as of June 21, 2026 and will be participating in our program through “course credit” option, you may be able to apply for housing through Summer Housing here, please visit: https://summer.ucla.edu/student-services/housing-for-minors/

Are laptops required?

Yes, students should bring their laptops.

If I will be an incoming freshman in Fall 2026, can I still enroll into the program? 

Yes, as long as you haven’t started college before or by the time the program starts.

Is there financial aid available? 

Our program does not have financial aid program, however, our program offers scholarships. Please see here: CSSI Scholarships

Do I have to attend the program full day in-person? 

Yes, our program is a 3 weeks fast-pace course, it is designed in such a way that it will require your full time attendance and commitment during the course of the program period. You’ll have to be in class from 9AM – 12PM and then from 1PM – 4PM during your small group discussion section. For the virtual track 1, Intro to Computer Science, you’ll be attending the course online, however, you’re still required to be present during those online meetings including the afternoon discussions.

Can my parents/guardian stay with me during the program? 

While we appreciate the support of parents and guardians, our on-site activities are designed exclusively for student participants. To ensure an immersive experience for all attendees, we are unable to accommodate guests during the program. We thank you for your understanding in helping us create an independent learning environment.

If I enroll in a certificate of completion program, can I change my enrollment to receive course credit?

Yes, you may change your enrollment program (Certificate of Completion vs Course Credit) at any time prior to payment. Please notify our staff as soon as possible; if you wish to make a change. Once the registration fee or/and program fee has been processed for your selected enrollment program, the selection are final and we may unable to accommodate further changes to the enrollment option. We recommend finalizing your choice before completing your transaction.

Is there any activity on the weekend required by the Institute?

No, there are no required Institute activities on the weekends. Students are free to spend this time at their discretion; however, please note that any off-campus travel or independent activities are the sole responsibility of the student.

I’m an international student, can I attend courses here on a B2 visa? 

Students pursuing a certificate of completion may be eligible to attend our summer program on a B2 visa. Students seeking the option to earn course credit for our program, an F-1 visa is strongly recommended. In all cases, please consult your local embassy to ensure you are in full compliance with current visa requirements.

I’m an international student participating in the institute. Should I purchase health insurance? 

If you’re an international student participating in a certificate program, please view your insurance option here https://clients.garnett-powers.com/vs/ucla/ that meets the requirements of UCLA. If you opt out of this insurance plan, it is your responsibility to ensure your insurance meets all the requirements and guidelines. Proof of insurance must be uploaded at the time of registration and enrollment payment.

If you’re an international student participating in course credit, your health insurance purchase fee will be listed and included on the BruinBill. This is required.

If i’m eligible to apply for F-1 visa, what should I do next?

If you’re enrolled in course credit program for at least 3 units or more, after register and enrollment, you will receive an email from Dashew Center notifying you of your eligibility for I-20. Please see this page for I-20 process: https://summer.ucla.edu/international-student-info/

In addition to this, upon selection and registration into the program, our CSSI program also has our own participant agreement form which has to be reviewed and signed by parents/guardian and their students.
